Car manufacturers in India have released sales data for the month of November 2021. Most of the automakers have reported negative sales report due to global shortage of semi-conductor chips. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, India’s largest car manufacturers, have reported massive sales decline. On the other hand, Tata Motors, Nissan and Mahindra report positive sales growth last month.
Maruti Suzuki November Sales – Decline
Maruti Suzuki sold 1,39,184 units in November 2021 as against 1,53,223 units in the same month last year. The company reported a year-on-year decline of over 9 percent. However, the brand’s export have reported a positive growth. The company’s export number for November 2021 stands for 21,393 units as against 9,004 units in the same month last year.
Hyundai November Sales – Decline
Hyundai Motor Company has sold 37,001 units in November 2021 as against 48,800 units in the same month last year. The company reported a year on year sales decline of 24.18 percent.
Tata Motors November Sales – Bumper Demand
Tata Motors has received a positive sales growth of 38 percent in the month of November 2021. The company sold 28,027 vehicles in November as against 21,228 units in the same month last year; thus recording a YOY sales growth of 32%. The company’s EV sales increased by whooping 324%, as Tata delivered 1,751 EVs last month as against 413 units in the same period last year.
Mahindra November Sales – 6.84% Growth
Mahindra sold 19,458 passenger vehicles in November as against 18,212 units in the same month last year. The company records a year-on-year growth of 6.84 percent. Mahindra said that Bolero Neo, Scorpio and XUV700 received positive response from buyers.
MG Motor November Sales – Semiconductor Shortage
MG Motor India has sold 2481 units in November 2021 as against 4,163 units in the same month last year; thus recording a year-on-year negative sales of 40.40%. The company said that ” enduring the industry challenges of global semiconductor chip shortage, which has severely constrained the production levels, MG Motor is continuously working towards delivering to customers their much-awaited MG cars on time.”
Toyota November Sales – Positive Growth
Toyota recorded a year-on-year sales growth of 52.83% in November 2021. It sold 13,033 units in November as against 8,508 units in the same month last year.
Honda – Massive Decline
Honda has registered a monthly domestic sales of 5,457 units in November 2021 as against 9,990 units in the same month last year. The company reported a year-on-year sales decline of 45.38 percent. The company also exported a total of 1,447 units in the last month.
Nissan – 160% Growth
Nissan India has recorded a massive 160 percent Year-On-Year sales growth. The company sold 2,651 months in November 2021. The Nissan Magnite has received an overwhelming response from buyers, as the company delivered more than 30,000 units in 11 months. In fact, Nissan recorded over 72K bookings for the sub-4 meter SUV since its launch in December 2020.
