Royal Enfield, Hero, Bajaj, Honda, TVS: Bikes & Scooters Sales April 2021

Auto industry is again facing a tough challenge of COVID-19 pandemic, as the two wheeler domestic sales in April recorded a month-on-month decline of 33.95%. Auto manufacturers sold 9,53,338 units in April 2021 as against 14,43,320 units delivered in March 2021. All the two-wheeler manufacturers reported a negative growth. In fact, Hero MotoCorp has announced to completely cease productions at its manufacturing facilities.

Hero MotoCorp – Despite massive decline in sales, Hero MotoCorp continues to rule the two-wheeler market. Hero retains the top slot by selling a total of 3,42,614 units in April, as it recorded a MoM sales decline of 37.06%. Hero sold 5,44,340 units in March 2021. The company has a market share of 23.74% in April 2021.

Honda Two-Wheeler – Japanese two-wheeler brand sold 2,40,100 units in April, which is a MoM decline of 39.22%. The company had delivered 3,95,037 units in March 2021. It is currently the second in the list of two-wheeler brands in terms of sales, thanks to the Activa. Honda currently holds a market share of 16.64%.

TVS Motor Company – TVS Motor Company registered sales of 2,38,983 units in April 2021. Domestic sales in April 2021 is lower due to lockdowns in many states, but retails continue to be ahead of dispatch. TVS claims to have reduced dealer stocks to support the channel partners and will produce to maintain adequate inventories for customer demand when it reopens.

Total two-wheelers registered sales of  226,193 in April 2021 as against 8,134 units in April 2020.  Domestic two-wheeler sales registered 131,386 units in April 2021. Scooter sales of the Company registered sales of 65,213 units in April 2021.  Motorcycle registered sales of 133,227 units in April 2021. TVS holds a market share of 9.10% in April.

Bajaj – Bajaj Auto sold 1,26,570 units in April 2021, recording a month-on-month decline of 30.22%. The company sold 1,81,393 motorcycles in March 2021. The brand currently holds a market share of 8.77%.

Royal Enfield – Royal Enfield MoM sales were down by 18.92%. The company sold 48,789 units in April 2021 as compared to 60,173 units sold in March 2021. RE currently holds a market share of 3.38% in April 2021.
