The American carmaker recently rolled out the Jeep Compass facelift with minor updates at a starting price of Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, the company has started working on the new-generation Compass that’s reported to debut sometime next year. The 2022 Jeep Compass was recently caught testing alongside the upcoming Jeep 7-seater SUV (codenamed H6) and Renegade. The Jeep H6 three-row SUV will have its global premiere towards the end of this year, followed by its India launch in early 2022.
The company has also planned a subcompact SUV for India that will be based on the Jeep Renegade. Slated to launch in 2022, the small SUV will underpin a new compact modular platform that’s already used in several Citroen and Peugeot cars.
The architecture will help the carmaker reduce production cost and allow assemble electric and hybrid powertrain to the model. Once launched, the new Jeep small SUV will go head-to-head against the cars like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Citroen C21.
While the spotted prototypes of the 2022 Jeep Compass and Jeep H6 were heavily camouflaged, their design and styling is likely to be inspired by the new Grand Cherokee L. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L features the signature 7-slat grille, stretched LED headlamps, pronounced hood, twin exhaust tips, wraparound LED combination lights and a boxy cabin. The new Compass and H6 look similar till the B-pillar, though the latter one gets a longer ad flatter roofline, a more upright rear section and larger greenhouse.
Interior details of the new 2022 Jeep Compass are still under the wraps. Though, the carmaker is expected to add a few more goodies. In India, the new Compass and H6 are likely to be offered with the same 2.0L turbo diesel engine with FWD and 4WD configurations. The oil burner could be tuned for generating extra power and torque.
