Ford Bronco Sport Explained In Images: Jeep Compass Rival

The all-new Ford Bronco Sport SUV has finally been unveiled; joining the new Bronco off-road vehicle range. The new model comes with 4×4 as standard and is claimed to be designed and developed to handle rugged terrains.

Ford Bronco Sport is designed to transport two mountain bikes standing up in its cargo area – and two cyclists up front. The new SUV is available in 5 trim levels – base mode, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands and First Edition. The new Bronco Sport is scheduled to be launched in the American markets in the second half of this year.

The Ford Bronco Sport is based on the heavily modified version of the modular front-wheel-drive platform that also underpins the Escape and the European-spec Focus hatchback.

The new Bronco Sport measures 4386mm in length, and has a wheelbase of 2,670mm. The SUV is positioned right between the Ford EcoSport (4,097mm long Global model) and Ford Escape (4605mm long).

In terms of styling, the new Ford Bronco gets square-shaped large grille, prominent BRONCO script and round headlights with a horizontal LED strake. At the back, the BRONCO SPORT lettering is placed on the tailgate. It gets large LED tail-lights. The SUV has aggressively raked C-pillar and strong door lines and round wheel arches.

The Ford Bronco Sport is available with up to 29-inch off-road tires on the first editions. The basic model has 17 or 18-inch tires.

The Bronco Sport Base model is fairly equipped with features like an 8-inch touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC3. This infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Powering the Ford Bronco Sport is a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine that is capable of producing 245bhp and a peak torque of 343Nm of torque. The entry-level variants are powered by a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine that produces 181bhp and 258Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while Ford Bronco Sport Badlands and First Edition gets SelectShift with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
