2021 Skoda Octavia RS, the new sportier and more powerful version of the Octavia sedan, has finally been unveiled by the Czech carmaker. The new model will see a release in global markets by the end of this year. As of now, there is no official word on its India launch. For the first time, the performance sedan will be made available with three engine options. The setup will include a 2.0L TSI turbo petrol, a 2.0L TDI diesel and a 1.4L TSI turbo-petrol with an 116bhp, electric motor. The turbo-petrol motor continues to deliver power worth 245bhp and 370Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
The oil burner has been tuned for generating 200bhp against 400Nm of torque, thus making it 16bhp more powerful than its previous version. It comes paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and an optional AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. The plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission, pushes out a combined power output of 241bhp and 400Nm of torque. The 2021 Skoda Octavia RS retains the bespoke sporty character. The front grille, air dams, wing mirrors, rear boot lip spoiler and diffuser have a blacked-out effect. The black roof, black inserts on the side skirts and rear bumper further enhance its sporty appeal. While the black 18-inch alloy wheels are standard on the model lineup, the 19-inch alloys come as optional. Some of its other key highlights include sleek LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, smoked LED taillamps and ‘VRS’ badging on the front grille and tailgate in black finish.
Sporty theme continues inside the cabin. The 2021 Skoda Octavia RS has all-black interior with carbon effect accents on the dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel with paddleshifters and aluminium pedals. The performance sedan gets sports seats with fabric upholstery as standard. Though, buyers will also have an option to go for Alcantara leather upholstery with red accents.
