New Skoda SUV (Seltos, Creta Rival) Spotted – Interesting Details Emerge

Skoda Auto has a handful of new models for the Indian market. The lineup includes an all-new mid-size sedan, a mid-size SUV, new Rapid notchback, Rapid automatic and Rapid Matte edition. Skoda Kamiq, the upcoming mid-size SUV from the Czech carmaker, will be put up against the cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. Recently, a test mule of the vehicle was spotted during its test rounds in the country.

The fresh spy picture reveals rear section of the SUV featuring horizontal L-shaped taillamps, dual exhaust pipe and bold bonnet line. You can also notice the roof rails enhancing its sporty SUV-ish appearance. Some of its design bits will be carried over from the new Octavia especially the sharp side creases. The SUV will sport the signature Skoda grille and split headlamps.

Skoda Kamiq

First previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Skoda Kamiq measures 4241mm in length, 1793mm in width and 1531mm in height. Dimensions of the India-bound model might be similar to the Euro-spec version. It will be the smallest Skoda SUV in the country. Unlike the global model that sits on VW Group’s MQB AO architecture, the Indian model will underpin a heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform.

The new Skoda SUV will be packed with lots of comfort goodies and safety features. Its Euro-spec model comes fitted with a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit with digital instruments, an optional 9.2-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink support, automatic climate control, a multi-functional steering wheel, leather seat upholstery and over 20 ‘Simply Clever’ features. The Kamiq has achieved top safety rating in Euro NCAP crash test scoring 96% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 80% for pedestrians and cyclists protection and 76% for driver assist functions.

In international markets, the Skoda Kamiq will be offered with multiple petrol and diesel engines including a 1.0L turbocharged petrol (95bhp/115bhp), a 1.5L TSI turbocharged petrol (148bhp/250Nm), a 1.6L TDI diesel (113bhp/250Nm) and a CNG kit with the locally-developed 115bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Engine details of the India-spec model are yet to be revealed. Reports suggest that it might come with a 1.5L petrol engine only.
