Force Gurkha Xtreme comes with a host of cosmetic and mechanical changes.

Force Motors has rolled out a new top-spec variant of its popular Gurkha off-road SUV in the Indian market. Called Force Gurkha Xtreme, the new variant comes with a host of cosmetic and mechanical changes. The new range-topping variant has been priced at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). The SUV lineup also includes four variants – Xpedition 4X2 5-door, Xpedition 3-door, Xplorer 4X4 5-door and Xplorer 3-door – priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, Rs 9.75 lakh, Rs 12.15 lakh and Rs 10.49 lakh respectively.

Visually, the Force Gurkha Xtreme appears exactly similar to the regular model. Though, it has witnessed subtle mechanical changes including a more power engine. The new top-spec variant derives its power from a new 2.2L diesel engine that’s good for 140bhp and 321Nm of torque, thus making it 55bhp more powerful than the regular 2.6L diesel motor generating power worth 85bhp.

2017 Force Gurkha Facelift

While the new oil burner is derived from the Mercedes-Benz OM611 family, the gearbox has been borrowed from Mercedes-Benz G32. For transmission duties, the Force Gurkha Xtreme uses 5-speed manual unit supported by a dual-mass flywheel. It also comes with a low-range transfer case and front and rear diff-locks, but devoid of the shift-on-the-fly system.

Force has also tuned its multi-link arrangement up front and rear suspension with 40mm wider front track. The approach, departure and ramp breakover angles have also been revised to 44 degrees, 35 degrees ad 29 degrees respectively.

The new Force Gurkha Xtreme comes with a ground clearance of 205mm and offers a wading depth of 550mm. Minor changes have been made inside the cabin. The Force Gurkha Xtreme features a new centre console, gear lever and transfer case.
