The Volvo XC40 Recharge has been listed on the company’s India website ahead of its official market launch. The electric SUV has been priced at Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom, India), thus making it the second most expensive Volvo in the country. In fact, it’s much affordable than other luxury electric SUVs such as Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC, BMW iX and Jaguar I-Pace.
– Powertrain setup of the new XC40 Recharge includes a 78kWh battery pack and 204bhp electric motors delivering a combined power output of 408bhp and 660Nm of torque.
– While the lithium-ion battery is placed low in the floor, the electric motors are positioned on each axle. It comes with AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
– The SUV’s battery pack can be juiced up 0 to 80 percent in 40 minutes via a 150kW DC charger. One can also charge it through a standard 11kW AC charger.
– The new Volvo electric SUV can go 0 to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds and promises a top speed of 180kmph.
– The automaker claims that the XC40 Recharge offers a range of 418km on a single charge (as per the WLTP test cycle).
– The XC40 Recharge has been designed on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform that also underpins the regular XC40.
– The electric version shares several design bits and features with the standard model. Though, it carries a blanked-off panel instead of the front grille. Some of its other design highlights include LED headlamps, newly-designed 19-inch alloy wheels and tailgate with hands-free function.
– The automaker has packed the new Volvo XC40 Recharge with lots of advanced goodies including a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charge, a powered passenger seat, powered driver seat with memory, a panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery.
– With respect to safety, the new Volvo electric SUV offers 7 airbags, lane keep assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitor, a 360 degree camera, blind spot monitor, cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, oncoming lane mitigation, auto parking and more.
