The demand for higher capacity motorcycles are on rise in India. Most of the brands are now working on new motorcycles in the 200cc to 300cc category to improve their market share. In this article, we bring you a list of upcoming new 250cc motorcycles to be launched in the Indian market in the next couple of years –
Suzuki Intruder 250
Suzuki is readying an all-new 250cc Intruder cruiser motorcycle, which has been leaked in patent images. The motorcycle will look identical to the Intruder 150; however, it will have a bigger body and more features. The bike will have a dual-barrel setup, LED tail-lamp, LED DRLs and digital instrument console.
The Suzuki Intruder 250 is powered by the same 249cc single-cylinder BS6-compliant engine that powers the Gixxer 250 series. This FI engine produces 26.5PS at 9,300rpm and a peak torque of 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. Suzuki engineers will likely to tune this engine to meet the needs of a cruiser motorcycle. This engine could offer higher torque and less power compared to the regular Gixxer range.
Bajaj Pulsar 250
Bajaj is readying the next generation Pulsar range, which includes 150, 200 and 250cc bikes. The Pulsar 250 range will also include a naked streetfighter and a semi-faired motorcycle. These motorcycles have already been caught testing around Bajaj’s production plant. The new motorcycles will be based on an all-new platform and will receive all-new design, new powertrain and features. The new bikes are likely to be powered by a new 250cc oil cooled engine with power output close to 24bhp. It will be positioned against the Yamaha FZ25 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
2022 KTM Duke 250
KTM is working on the new 125 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke naked bikes, which have been caught testing in foreign soil. The 2021 KTM 250 Duke will share styling cues from the bigger Dukes – 890 Duke and the 1290 SuperDuke R. The motorcycle is based on the new sleeker trellis sub-frame with new cast swingarm. The new 250 Duke is expected to receive a revised engine, which could offer a minor bump in power and torque. The current engine produces 29.91PS of power and 24Nm of torque.
TVS Zeppelin R
TVS Motor Company has trademarked the name ‘Zeppelin R’ cruiser motorcycle, which is expected to be positioned in the 250cc power cruiser segment. It is reportedly to feature 250cc or 310cc powerful engine. The company had showcased the concept at the 2018 Auto Expo, which was equipped with a 220cc, single-cylinder engine coupled with 1,200 watt regenerative assist motor with a 48 volt Lithium-ion battery.
