Tata Tiago CNG And Tigor CNG Launched; Prices, Specs

Tata Motors has launched the CNG versions of its entry-level models, the Tata Tiago and Tigor, in the Indian market. The Tata Tiago CNG is offered in 5 variants – XE, XM, XT, XZ+ (Single Tone) & XZ+ (Dual-Tone) – priced between Rs 6.10 lakh & 7.65 lakh.

The Tata Tigor iCNG is offered in two trim levels – XZ & XZ+ – priced between Rs 7.70 lakh and Rs 8.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new CNG variants are powered by 1.2L, BS6 engine that produces 73.4PS of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 95Nm of torque. This is around 13PS and 18Nm less than the regular petrol variant. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard.

The entry level variants ride on 13-inch steel wheels shod with 155/80 section tyres, while the higher variants will have 14-inch steel wheels shod with 175/65 section tyres. The new models will have 35L petrol fuel tank and 60-litre water filling capacity for CNG.

In terms of styling, the CNG versions of the Tiago and the Tigor looks identical to the regular model. The new models get ‘i-CNG’ badging on the boot-lid, which is the major difference between the CNG & regular petrol variants of the Tiago and the Tigor.

The CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor are around 100kg heavier than the regular variants. While the former has a ground clearance of 168mm, the later has 165mm ground clearance. The new models come with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control as standard safety features.

Tata Motors said that the new Tiago CNG & the Tigor CNG comes with equipped with Intelligence Technology. It is a single advance ECU, which allows auto switchover between fuels, direct start in CNG, faster refueling & a digital instrument console.

The Tata Tiago iCNG comes with features like the Projector headlamps, LED DRLs, chrome treatments on the exteriors and premium black and beige dual tone interiors. On the other side, the Tigor CNG comes equipped with rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, dual-tone roof, new seat fabric and new dual-tone black and beige colours.

The Tata Tiago iCNG comes with a new Midnight Plum colour, while the Tigor CNG gets a new Magnetic Red paint. Both cars are offered with a warranty of 2 years or 75,000 kms as standard.
