Tata Plans For 2021 – HBX Micro SUV, Tiago & Tigor CNG

Tata Motors ended last financial year as India’s third largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, thanks to overwhelming response for Nexon, Tiago, Altroz, Harrier & Safari. In order to further boost sales, Tata Motors is now planning to launch new models in the Indian market.

Adding to it, Tata is looking at alternate fuel options to counter the rising petrol and diesel fuel prices. The company plans to launch the factory-fitted CNG variants of the Tiago hatchback and the Tigor sub-compact sedan. The Tata Altroz could also receive the CNG version at a later date.

New Tata Tigor

Tata Motors will also launch the new HBX concept based micro SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new model will be based on the ALFA modular platform, which also underpins the Altroz hatchback.

The Tata HBX micro SUV will be offered in petrol version only. It will be propelled by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 85bhp of power and 110Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. The HBX micro SUV will be launched in the third quarter of 2021, during festive season around Diwali.

Tata HBX Timero Mini SUV

Tata Motors will also launch the electric version of the Altroz hatchback in 2021. Adding to it, the brand will introduce the next generation Nexon, Tiago and Tigor based on the new ALFA modular platform. The new models will be launched in 2022-23. The homegrown UV maker is also readying the petrol version of the Harrier and the Safari. The new models are rumoured to be powered by a new 1.5-litre or 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is likely to produce around 150-160bhp of power. The company will also introduce the turbocharged versions of the Tiago and the Tigor, which will receive a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
