The homegrown automaker Tata Motors has managed to outsmart Hyundai to become the 2nd largest carmaker in the month of February 2024. Tata sold 51,321 units last month, while Hyundai’s total domestic sales for the month of February 2024 stood at 50 201.
The Korean automaker has lost its number 2 position to Tata Motors for the second time in the last 3 months. However, Hyundai has reported a YoY sales growth of 6.8 per cent. On the other hand, Tata Motors sold 1100 more cars than the Korean counterpart.
Hyundai Sales February 2024
Hyundai Motor India registered total sales of 60,501 units (domestic + exports) in February 2024 as against 57,851 units in the same month last year. The company sold 50,201 units in the domestic market last month as against 47,001 units in February 2023, reporting a YoY sales growth of 6.8%. Hyundai also achieved export sales of 10,300 units, registering a YoY negative sales of 5.07%.
Tata Sales February 2024
Tata Motors has reported an YoY sales growth of 8.4 per cent in total sales in February 2024. The company sold 86,406 vehicles last month as against 79,705 units in February 2023. In the domestic passenger vehicle market, Tata Motors sold 51,267 units in Feb 2024 as against 42,862 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 20 per cent. However, the company has reported a decline in its MoM sales with 55,633 vehicles sold in January 2024.
The brand’s exports declined by 81% YoY to just 54 units in February 2024 as against 278 units in February 2023. The brand’s total sales increased to 51,321 units last month, reporting a YoY sales growth of 19 percent. The company had sold 43,140 units in February 2023. Tata’s electric vehicle division has also reported a YoY sales growth of 30 per cent in February 2024. The company sold 6,923 units in February 2024 as against 5,318 units in the same month last year.
