The much-awaited new Tata Altroz iTurbo has finally been launched at Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model directly rivals the new Hyundai i20 1.0L turbo and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The Altroz with naturally-aspirated engine also gets a new range-topping XZ+ trim, which is available in petrol and diesel options. The XZ+ petrol and XZ+ diesel are priced at Rs 8.25 lakh and Rs 9.45 lakh respectively.

2. New Colour
The new Altroz iTurbo is available in 5 colours including one new Harbour Blue paint. Other colour options include Midtown Grey, High Street Gold, Downtown Red and Avenue White.
3. Altroz iTurbo Engine Specs
The new Tata Altroz iTurbo is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is a slightly detuned version of the Nexon’s 1.2L engine. This engine is capable of producing 110bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1,500rpm-5,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
4. Altroz iTurbo Mileage
Tata Altroz iTurbo is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.13kmpl. However, our review suggests that the hatchback would return close to 15-16kmpl.
5. Acceleration
The new turbocharged engine is claimed to be 28% more powerful and 24% torquier than the naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The hatch is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 12 seconds. It also comes with two driving modes – Sport and City.

7. Connected Car Tech
All the variants upwards of XM+ trim of the Altroz hatch are equipped with intelligent real-time assist (iRA) smart connect application that offers 27 connected car features with up to 5 layers of connectivity. This system comes with natural voice recognition, as the voice command can understand English, Hindi and the combination of both – ‘Hinglish’.
The smartphone-based iRA connectivity tool offers remote vehicle functions such as remote lock/unlock, stolen vehicle tracking, geo-fencing and road-side assistance. It also gets updated navigation option with maps from ‘What 3 Words’.
8. To Get DCT in Future
The company has only introduced the manual gearbox version of the Altroz iTurbo; however, the automatic version of the hatchback has been spotted testing multiple times. It will receive a new 6-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission), which will rival the i20 DCT and the Polo 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
9. Black roof, dual-tone interior
The hatchback gets Xpress cool, leatherette seats, personalized wallpaper on infotainment display, one shot up power windows, 2 additional tweeters, sport mode and an optional contrast black roof along with the new Sporty Black and Light Grey interior theme.
10. Slowest in the segment
The Altroz iTurbo achieves 0-100kmph in 12 seconds, while its direct competitors – i20 1.0L Turbo and Polo 1.0 TSI acclerates to 100kmph from zero in 11.21 seconds and 9.9 seconds respectively. The Polo is still the fastest in its segment.
