Simple Energy has confirmed that it will announce prices of the Simple One electric scooter on 23rd May 2023. The launch event will take place in in Bangalore. Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, of Simple Energy, said that the company has been extensively testing the electric scooter from the past two years. He also revealed that Simple Energy is the first OEM to comply with the Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) 156 amendment 3 ensuring greater battery safety. For power, the Simple One uses a 4.8kWh battery pack (removable) and an 8.5kW electric motor. It delivers a peak torque of 72Nm, which is highest in the segment. The company says that it has the safest battery system and longest range in the segment. The e-scooter offers a claimed range of 300km on a single charge, thus curbing the range anxiety. It’s capable to do 0 to 40kmph in 2.85 seconds, and attain a top speed of 105kmph.
Braking system of the Simple One electric scooter includes front and rear disc brakes along with the CBS (Combined braking system). It has proper floorboard and offers an underseat storage space of 30-litres. There are four colour options – Namma Red, Brazen Black, Grace White and Azure Blue. It comes with a touchscreen instrument cluster with multiple control functions and app connectivity.
In early 2022 when the Simple One electric scooter was announced, it was priced at Rs 1.10 lakh for the Standard variant and Rs 1.45 lakh for the Extra Range variant. One must note that the scooter’s Standard version comes with a single battery pack and in ECO mode it delivers a range of 236km on a single charge. Now, the e-scooter is likely to witness a minor price hike. The company says that it will introduce a range of new electric two-wheelers and its focus is on R&D.
