New Vs Old Toyota Fortuner Price, Specs – What Has Changed?

First launched in 2016, the Toyota Fortuner has received a major makeover for the first time in India. The new model also receives a new top-of-the-line variant, called the Fortuner Legender, which comes with completely different front face and new features. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner is now available at a price tag of Rs 29.98 lakh, which goes up to Rs 37.58 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Fortuner looks largely identical to the pre-facelift model; however, there are several new design elements and features along with mechanical changes. In this article, we will check how different the new Fortuner is as compared to the pre-facelift model.

The Toyota Fortuner was priced between Rs 28.68 lakh and Rs 34.45 lakh, while the new model is available in the price bracket of Rs 29.98 lakh and Rs 37.43 lakh. The top-spec Legender variant costs Rs 37.58 lakh. Compared to the pre-facelift, the base and top-end variant of the new Fortuner is around 1.3 lakh and Rs 3 lakh expensive respectively.

The new Fortuner is available with the same 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engines, which was offered with the predecessor. However, the diesel engine is now significantly more powerful than the previous model. The 2.8L diesel engine now produces 201bhp of power and 500Nm of torque with six-speed automatic gearbox. The torque drops to 420Nm with six-speed manual gearbox. This means that the Fortuner facelift’s diesel engine offers 27bhp and 40Nm more power and torque respectively than the previous model. The turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing 164bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are on offer.

The new Fortuner retains the overall profile of the previous model; however, it comes with more aggressive design elements. The SUV gets a wider and more prominent front grille, sleeker headlamps with new LED DRLs, revised bumper and new fog lamp housing, and faux skid plate. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, while the rear has new LED signature tail-lights.

The new Fortuner Legender comes equipped with new headlamp unit with LED tech and LED DRLs, vertically split grille with glossy black surrounds, wider air-dam with blackened treatment for mesh pattern, new skid plate, LED fog lamps and Lexus-like sequential turn signal on the lower side of the bumper. It gets differently styled alloys, blackened ORVMs, pillars and roof, new LED tail-lamps with LED bar and new bumper, roof integrated spoiler and shark fin antenna.

The new Toyota Fortuner retains most of the features available in the previous model. It now comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the 7-inch unit in the previous model. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV also gets connected car features like geofencing, find my vehicle location, real-time tracking, etc via a smartphone application.

The new Fortuner also gets ventilated front seats, 11-speaker JBL sound system and front clearance sonar. The top-spec Legender comes equipped with wireless phone charging pad and kick-activated boot opensing system. Adding to it, the Legender has a large 9-inch touchscreen, dual-tone interior scheme, ambient illumination and dual rear USB.
