New Tata Safari To Get Sunroof; Unofficial Bookings Open

The new Tata Safari is surely one of the major car launches of this year. The carmaker has confirmed that the 7-seater SUV will make its debut on 26th January, followed by its launch in coming months. Prior to its official unveiling, select dealers have started accepting pre-bookings for the model at an initial sum of Rs 51,000. In fact, the production of the new Safari is already underway at the company’s plant. Tata’s new three-row SUV will be compete against the upcoming new-generation Mahindra XUV500 that’s due for April, 2021.

According to a latest report, the new Safari will come with a panoramic sunroof. However, the sunroof-equipped model won’t be ready till its debut date and is expected to reveal near around its launch. The 2021 Tata Safari (codenamed – Gravitas), which is essentially the bigger version of the Harrier, will share most of its design bits and features with its younger sibling. Though, minor cosmetic changes will be made to the three-row SUV.

The upcoming 7-seater Tata SUV will come in a new dark Blue colour scheme, a tri-arrow grille design, stepped roof and upright, powered tailgate. While the interior layout will be similar to the Harrier, it will get a new black-crème interior theme with some additional features. The SUV is likely to come with a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology and an electronic parking brake. The new Tata Safari will employ a 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine sourced from the FCA. It’s the same motor that does duty in the Harrier. It has been tuned for producing a peak power of 170PS and 350Nm of torque. There will be two gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual and torque converter. Initially, the SUV will be made available with FWD (front-wheel-drive) system.
