Renault’s low-cost division has recently announced that it will launch the third generation Duster SUV in 2024. The new gen model will also be sold under Renault nameplate in select markets where Dacia is not present. The third-gen new Renault Duster will also be launched in our market sometime in FY24. It will be a completely new SUV and will be based on the CMF-B platform instead of the current MO platform.
The new Renault Duster has been caught testing in foreign soil. The spotted model was heavily covered, hiding a fully redesigned body. In fact, the vehicle appears in close to production avatar as it has production body parts. The new Duster is looking larger than the current model and shares design cues from the Bigster concept. The Bigster based SUV will be the Dacia’s first C-segment model with launch scheduled in 2025.
The second generation Duster on sale in select international markets measure 4.32 meters in length. The next-gen model is expected to be slightly bigger as the Bigster SUV will be around 4.6 meters in length. The spotted model has full production body and final lights, and has rear disc brakes. Similar to the Bigster concept, the new Renault Duster is likely to get “hidden” rear door handles. It rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Continental 215/65 all-season tires.
The new Duster will offer a generous ground clearance. The SUV’s turn indicators are now integrated into the side mirror caps. It has flared wheel arches with a more squared contour to give the side profile a more rugged appeal. The SUV will have LED lighting system.
The new Renault Duster for India will be based on a heavily localised CMF-B modular platform, which will be compatible with multiple bodystyles and engine options. Moreover, the CMF-B has an electric derivative called the CMF-B EV architecture and this will allow the Renault-Nissan alliance to produce electric vehicles locally in future. The cheaper versions of the new Duster will be offered with front-wheel-drive setup, while the higher-end variants will be offered with AWD system.
