New Honda CB250 Patent Leaked – Is It Coming To India?

The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is planning to expand its popular CB bike range with the all-new Honda CB250 motorcycle. Patent images of the model have been leaked on the web outlining its possible design. It’s likely to share its frame, bodywork and several other components with its bigger sibling – Honda CB400 SF. The motorcycle will feature a monoshock rear suspension mounted directly in the swingarm without raising-rate linkage. Read – Honda CB350 Scrambler Motorcycle In The Works

Design bits such as wheels, seats and tail section seem inspired by the CB400 SF. Just so you know, the first-generation Honda CB250 was introduced in 1970s and its latest model came out in 1992. It was replaced by Honda CBF250 in 2003, which was among the most popular middleweight classic bikes.

As of now, there is no clarity whether the new Honda CB250 will come to India or not. Even if India is on launch radar, the new bike will be positioned below the newly-launched Honda CB350. Similar to the CB350, the bikemaker might heavily localize the new model. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has planned to expand its premium motorcycle range with new models in coming years.

Recently, the company introduced the new Honda CB350 to challenge dominance of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. It has been priced between Rs 1.85 lakh – Rs 1.90 lakh, thus making it more affordable than its arch rival. For power, the new Honda H’ness CB350 uses a 348cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine making power worth 20.78bhp and 30Nm of torque.

Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed gearbox. Its braking system includes a 310mm front and a 240mm rear disc brake. It gets dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard fitment. It sits on half duplex cradle chassis and offers 5 class-leading features including full LED setup, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Assist and Slipper Clutch, Honda Smartphone Voice Control System (HSVCS) and Advanced Digital-Analogue Speedometer.
