New Bajaj E-Scooter Spotted – OLA S1 Rival

Homegrown automaker, Bajaj is planning to increase its electric two-wheeler range. The company is testing a new electric scooter, which has been spotted testing for the first time. This model is expected to be a more affordable alternative to the Chetak electric.

Bajaj had launched the Chetak e-scooter in January 2020. With FAME II and state subsidies, the new electric scooter cost around Rs 1.23 lakh (on-road Pune). It is relatively expensive when compared to the OLA S1, which cost under Rs 1 lakh.

In order to compete against the Ola S1, Bajaj is preparing a new electric scooter that should cost under Rs 1 lakh. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the new model could soon enter the production line.

The spy shot reveals that the new Bajaj e-scooter will have sleek and sharp design compared to the Chetak. It is visible that the scooter’s headlight is apron-mounted. The rear profile is compact that accommodates the tail-lamp and rear turn indicators, and the rear bumper plate is mounted on the swingarm. The swingarm seems identical to the Chetak, which suggests that the vehicle could share cycle parts and powertrain components with the Chetak. The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter features a 4kW motor that source power from a 2.9kWh battery pack.

The spotted scooter features basic mirror caps and fibre body panels instead of metal in the Chetak. It is expected to miss out on keyless operation and sequential turn indicators. The scooter is likely to share the instrument console with the Bajaj Chetak. It gets slat floorboard and unique seat design. The new scoter could be called the Bajaj Fluir or Fluor, as these names are already trademarked.
