Mean Metal Motors Private Limited (MMM) is planning to launch its halo product, the Azani electric supercar in India. With the MMM Azani EV Supercar, the company aims to reduce the technological gap that currently exists between the ever developing west EV eco system in comparison to the nascent efforts being made in India in the same field.
Founded in 2012 by Sarthak Paul, MMM is aiming to manufacture India’s first and only production high performance electric vehicle (supercar) that would demonstrate state-of-the art futuristic and technological innovations. Thus, MMM is looking to tap into an addressable USD +750 Billion market with 34 million EV’s to hit roads by 2030.
Mean Metal Motors started with a team of four 19 year old’s in India and now has grown to a strong 22 member team. The team is working on different aspects such as research & development, design, aerodynamics and engineering alongside their technical partners from the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States Of America.
Mr Pavan Ongole – Ex-Director Soft Bank, Managing Partner Airi Capital & Venture Partner MFV Partners has come on-board as an investor and advisor to the company for Business Strategy, International Expansion, Financial Structuring and Investments. The brand is currently preparing itself to be represented on Fundable – the world’s biggest equity crowdfunding digital platform.
Speaking on this announcement, Mr Sarthak Paul – CEO Mean Metal Motors said, “since the auto industry is being given a big EV push, it is time that Mean Metal Motors shows its prowess. The current backdrop of switching over to electric vehicles in the country seems far away given the lack of infrastructure, though from a company perspective we feel that full electrification is just a couple of years away. Our sole purpose is just not to develop an electric supercar but to create an eco-system that helps increase electrification at a faster rate. India is way far behind in its production methods when compared to the west and we are here to change that”.
MMM Azani is the brand’s halo product, which is claimed to be a quick, powerful and functional supercar meant for the new age customers abroad and in India. The MMM Azani will be powered by a 986bhp electric motor. The supercar accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in less than 2 seconds before hitting a top speed of around 300kmph. It will offer a range of around 550 to 700kms on a single charge.
The first engineered prototype is slated to be introduced in the second half of 2022. It will be the first start-up in the country to introduce the concept of micro-facilities to manufacture its product at less than one fifth the cost of a traditional automobile manufacturing facility.
