MG ZS EV Records 700 Bookings Per Month; 2798 Units Sold In 2021

The MG ZS EV has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers, as it recorded 700 bookings per month. As compared to the year 2020, the company has recorded a growth of 145% in sales for ZS EV, at 2798 in the year 2021. Based on the global platform, the new MG ZS EV has a certified range of 419kms in one full-charge, the longest range offered compared to any EV in India.

The MG ZS EV comes with a best-in-class 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech battery. Equipped with new 215/55/R17 tyres, the vehicle and battery pack ground clearance have been increased to 177mm and 205mm, respectively. The MG ZS EV comes in two variants – Excite and Exclusive, with price starting from Rs 21.9 lakh.

2021 MG ZS Electric

The MG ZS EV comes with 143PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 8.5 seconds. The MG ZS can be charged up to 80 percent in 50 minutes using a 50kW DC fast charger.  Using a standard AC charger, it takes 6 to 8 hours for a full charge. The new model comes equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, PM 2.5 filter, and more.

MG extends its customers a 5-way charging ecosystem including free-of-cost AC fast charger at residence/offices, portable in-car charging cable, DC superfast charging stations at dealerships, 24×7 charge-on-the-go facility (in 5 cities), and charging stations in satellite cities and tourist hubs.

2021 MG ZS EV Interior

If reports are to be believed, MG Motor India could be working on an affordable version of the ZS Electric SUV. It could be offered with a smaller 40 kWh battery pack. The new battery pack could replace the existing battery or could be offered as an optional. We believe that this could be the move to offer a more affordable variant, which could target the prospective Nexon EV buyers.

The smaller battery should offer less range. While the current model offers a range of 415km, the ZS EV with smaller battery should offer a range around 350kms. The move will surely bring down the overall cost of the vehicle.
