Mahindra SUVs In High Demand – 2.86 Lakh Pending Orders

The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is constantly selling over 40,000 SUVs in the country in the past few months. The company is constantly increasing its production facility to meet the rising demand. In fact, Mahindra is receiving an average of 51,000 bookings every month over the last few months.

Speaking to the media, Rajesh Jejurikar, ED and CEO of Auto & Farm business at Mahindra & Mahindra said that the company currently has pending orders of 2.86 lakh units as of November 1. The high bookings & increasing waiting period normally leads to high cancellation rate. However, the cancellation rate for Mahindra continues to remain in single digits – 8 percent.

Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period

Mahindra has a backlog of 10,000 bookings for the XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV and the XUV400 electric SUV. The homegrown automaker has 70,000 and 76,000 pending orders for the XUV700 and the Thar lifestyle SUV as of November 1, 2023. The Bolero SUV has 11,000 pending orders as of November 1, 2023.

The Mahindra Scorpio (both N and Classic) has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers. The SUV currently commands a waiting period of over 1 year. The company has a backlog of over 1,19,000 for the Scorpio N and the Scorpio Classic. The company has increased the production of all its key models including the XUV700, Thar and the Scorpio.

Mahindra Bolero Diesel

Rajesj Jejurikar said that the company is working on delivering more cars in the future, which will help in reduing the waiting period. In the second quarter of this financial year (between July & September 2023), Mahindra delivered 1,14,742 SUVs which is more than 50% compared to the same period last financial year.

The homegrown SUV maker will soon introduce the updated version of the XUV300 compact SUV and the 5-door version of the Thar lifestyle SUV in India. The company is also working on the next-gen Bolero, which is most likely to arrive in 2024-25. Mahindra will introduce the XUV.e8 electric SUV in the late 2024. It will be the brand’s first model to be based on the born electric platform.
