Honda Unveils 3 New Electric SUVs – Launch Next Year

Japanese automaker, Honda has showcased 3 new electric SUVs including the e:NP2 Prototype, the e:NS2 Prototype and the e:N SUV concept at Auto Shanghai 2023. Through the introduction of these new EV models, Honda will continue to enhance the e:N Series lineup and aims to sell 100% electric vehicles in China by 2035. 

Honda has also announced plans to introduce 10 Honda-brand electric vehicle models in China by 2027. The production versions of the e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype will be launched in early 2024. The e:N SUV concept model will be positioned as new-generation e:N Series models and the production of the SUV will commence before the end of 2024.

Honda claims that the e:NP2 Prototype and e:NS2 Prototype will bring new value to brand customers by enhancing dynamics, technology, and style. The new electric SUVs offer “a unique driving pleasure that enables the driver to enjoy a sense of oneness with the vehicle”. The cabin of the new SUVs claim to offer intelligence with “clean, uncluttered, yet pleasantly rounded forms combined with advanced features such as Honda Connect 4.0.”

The new Honda prototypes come with the body styles of an SUV, combining it with the “sleek form of sedans.” The e:NP2 Prototype and e:NS2 Prototype comes with a sloping roofline and has a fastback-like styling at the back. Unlike previous e:NS1 & e:NP1 based on the HR-V, the new prototypes come with distinct design details with unique styling. The new electric SUVs are likely to be produced by one of Honda’s Chinese joint ventures, GAC Honda Automobile and Dongfeng Honda Automobile.

The Honda e:N SUV concept features the wild design study that debuted in 2021. It appears closer to production and features a traditional SUV styling. The production version of the concept will be the first one to adopt the e:N Architecture W EV-dedicated platform that is developed exclusively for e:N Series EV models. 

The new electric prototype comes with the latest safety and driver assistance systems as well as AI-powered Honda Connect technologies. The company has not revealed any specifications or dimensions for any of the models unveiled in China.
