Auto manufacturers have released their sales numbers for the month of May 2022. The sales figures reveal that the Indian auto industry is on a recovery path, as major brands have posted positive sales growth. In this article, we bring you sales report of Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Kia and Toyota for the month of May 2022.
Mahindra Sales May 2022
Mahindra has reported a massive sales growth in the month of May 2022. The company has reported a YOY sales growth of 236.13 per cent. The homegrown automaker sold 26,904 vehicles in May 2022 as against 8,004 units in the same month last year. The brand’s MoM sales have also been increased by 19.44 per cent. In the month of April 2022, Mahindra sold 22,526 vehicles in the country.
In the passenger vehicle or PV segment, the company’s UV range accounted for majority of the sales. The UV sales stood at 26,632 units, which is 244% growth compared to the 7,748 units sold in May 2021.
Maruti Suzuki Sales May 2022
Maruti Suzuki India Limited posted a total sales of 1,61,413 units in the month of May 2022. Total sales include domestic sales of 1,28,000 units, sales to OEM partners of 6,222 units and exports of 27,191. The company has also posted its highest ever monthly exports.
In a press release, Maruti said that ” the shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly on domestic models.” Maruti Suzuki sold 17,408 units of the Alto & S-Presso, while the compact car segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S & WagonR) combined sales stood at 67,947 units.
The company sold 586 units of the Ciaz sedan, while the Maruti Eeco sales stood at 10,482 units. In the utility vehicle segment, MSIL sold 28,051 SUVs or MPVs in the month of May 2022. The company also delivered 3,526 units of the Super Carry Light Commercial Vehicle.
Kia India Sales May 2022
Kia India grabs the fifth position in the list of top selling car brands in the country. The company sold 18,718 units in May 2022, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 69.39 per cent. The company had sold 11,050 units in May 2021.
The brand’s month-on-month sales declined by 1.58 per cent, as it sold 19,019 units in April 2022. The company sold 7,800 units of the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV, while the Seltos sales stood at 5,953 units. Kia has also delivered 4,612 units of the Carens MPV last month. The brand’s flagship model, the Carnival posted a YOY sales growth of 63.70% to 239 units.
Toyota India Sales May 2022
Toyota has sold a total of 10,216 units in the month of May 2022, registering a massive YOY sales growth. The company had sold 707 units in May 2021, as a result of the impact brought in by the second wave of the pandemic. Moreover, cumulative wholesales from January to May this year has registered a growth of 16% when compared to the same period last year, thereby witnessing month on month wholesales gravitating back to pre-Covid times in 2019.
