Car Sales March 2022 – Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki

Automakers have released their sales numbers for the March 2022. While the homegrown automakers report massive sales growth, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota recorded a sales decline. MSIL and Hyundai are significantly impacted by shortage in supply of semiconductors.

Maruti Suzuki March Sales 2022

Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 170,395 cars in March 2022. Total sales last month include domestic sales of 137,658 units, sales to other OEM of 6,241 units and its highest ever monthly exports of 26,496. In FY 2021-22, MSIL posted a growth of 13.4% with a sales figure of 16,52,653 vehicles.

– MSIL sold 137,658 cars in the domestic market in March 2022 as against 1,49,518 units in the same month last year.

– Maruti Suzuki sold 15,491 units of Alto & S-Presso, which is significantly lower compared to the same month last year (24,653 units).

– Maruti reports a marginal growth in the compact segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR). The company sold 82,314 units in March 2022 as against 82,201 units in the same month last year.

– Maruti Suzuki sold 1,834 units of the Ciaz sedan in March 2022 as against 1,628 units in the same month 2021.

– Maruti Suzuki sold 25,001 units of UVs including the Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and the XL6. The company sold 9,221 units of the Eeco Van and 3,797 units of the Super Carry LCV last month.

Hyundai March Sales 2022

Hyundai Motor Company sold 55,287 units (Domestic + Exports) in the month of March 2022. The company reported a total negative sales growth of 14.44 percent.

– Hyundai sold 44,600 cars in the domestic market as against 52,600 units in the same month last year. The company reported a sales decline of 15.21%.

– Not just domestic, Hyundai exports are also down by 11.10 percent. Hyundai exported 10,687 cars last month as against 12,021 units in March 2021.

Tata Motors March Sales 2022

Tata Motors registered an impressive growth of 43 percent in the passenger vehicle segment. The company sold 42,293 units in March 2022 as against 29,654 units in the same month last year. In terms of annual sales, Tata’s passenger vehicle segment has witnessed a growth of 67 percent. The company sold 3,70,372 units in FY22 as compared to 2,22,025 units in the FY21.

Tata Motors overall domestic sales have grown by 30 percent. The company sold 86,718 vehicles in March 2022 as compared to 66,462 units in the same period last year.

Mahindra & Mahindra March Sales 2022

Mahindra was the fourth best-selling car manufacturer in India for March 2022. The company has received excellent response for its UVs including the XUV700, Thar, Bolero and Scorpio.

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 27,603 cars in March 2022 as against 16,700 units in the same month last year, recording a massive growth of 67%. The company sold 27,380 UVs and 223 units of cars & vans.

Mahindra sold 75,026 vehicles in the last quarter of FY22, recording a massive 42.85% sales growth. The company sold 52,521 vehicles in the same time last year.
