BMW i7 M70 XDrive & 7 Series 740d M Sport Launched In India

BMW India has launched the first-ever BMW i7 M70 xDrive and the diesel variant of the all-new BMW 7 Series – 740d M Sport. The diesel 7-Seater 740d M Sport is locally produced at BMW Group Plant in Chennai, while the all-electric BMW i7 M70 xDrive is available as a completely built-up unit (CBU).

BMW 740d

Both cars are offered with standard two-year warranty and unlimited kilometers. The battery in BMW i7 M70 xDrive is covered by a warranty valid for eight years or up to 160,000 kilometers.

BMW 740d M Sport

The BMW 740d M Sport comes with LED DRLs with BMW Crystal lights & Swarovski crystals. The centre of the front is dominated by an illuminated kidney grille. It features an adaptive air suspension, M Sport design package, comfort access system, automatic tailgate, soft-close function for the doors and a four-zone climate control. It also has a big 31.3-inch screen for the second-row occupants.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 286bhp of power and 650Nm of torque. The engine is also benefitted by a 48V mild-hybrid system that develops 18bhp and 200Nm of additional boost. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the range.

BMW i7 M70 xDrive

The electric model features a massive illuminated front grille with vertical slats, split LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, slim LED tail-lamps, and flush door handles. There is the M logo on the front grille and M-specific bits such as side skirts, front side panels, ORVMs and rear spoiler. This electric model rides on 21-inch M light-alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the i7 M70 xDrive comes with a twin-display setup for infotainment and instrument cluster, multi-zone climate control, gesture control and Bowers & Wilkins music system with 36 speakers. Similar to the 7-Series diesel, it gets a 31.3-inch 8K retractable touchscreen for the rear occupants, and a 5-5 inch touchscreen control panels on rear doors. It comes with an illuminated M door sills, M Merino Leather trim in Black or Atlas Grey upholstery, M leather steering wheel and M Specific footrest.

It is fitted to a 101.7kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 560km. The EV comes with dual-motor setup with a combined power and torque output of 657bhp and 1100Nm respectively. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 3.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
