Aprilia RS 457 Unveiled In India – To Rival Ninja 400, YZF-R3To

Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Aprilia has finally unveiled the new Aprilia RS 457 fully-faired sports bike. The motorcycle will be officially launched in India sometime later this year, most probably around Bharat GP.

It will be the latest entrant in the twin-cylinder sub-500cc category, which has very limited offerings like Kawasaki Ninja 400 & Ninja 300. However, things will change in near future as Yamaha plans to launch the new YZF-R3 and the MT-03. Moreover, Kawasaki has announced to launch the Ninja ZX-4R in the country. The Aprilia RS 457 will be positioned against the Ninja ZX-4R and the R3.

Aprilia RS 457 Launch

The new Aprilia RS 457 shares the styling cues from the bigger RS range. It features the iconic double front fairing, a sleek 2-in-2 exhaust, underbelly silencer, LED front headlamp (shares styling cues from Aprilia’s bigger bikes) and a new 5-inch TFT colour instrument cluster.

The company claims that the Aprilia RS 457 inherits the sporty character of the RS 660. Based on the lightweight platform, the new motorcycle will offer ease of handling and has advanced technological features.

Aprilia RS 457 Specs

The new Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine with double camshaft timing and four valves per cylinder. The new 457cc twin-cylinder engine is capable of producing 48bhp of power. It has 41mm USD front fork and monoshock at the rear, both with preload adjustability. The motorcycle features 320mm front disc and 220mm rear disc along with dual-channel ABS with a supermoto mode.

The new Aprilia RS 457 rides on 17-inch alloys shod with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear section tyres. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of just 175kgs, which is just 3kgs more than the KTM RC390. It comes with ride-by-wire tech with 3 riding modes, and 3 level of traction control. It gets a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity as optional accessory. Quickshifter is also available as an optional accessory.

Aprilia RS 457 features

The Aprilia RS 457 will be the brand’s most affordable offering in our market. We expect the new RS 457 to cost somewhere between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh.
