From Maruti Suzuki mid-sized SUV to new Mahindra XUV400 EV, here is a list of top 5 brand new cars to be launched in our market in the next 6 months –

Maruti Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the much-awaited new compact SUV, called the new Grand Vitara in the country on July 20, 2022. Interested buyers can pre-book the new Maruti Grand Vitara online or at authorised NEXA dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new model is based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Brezza and the S-Cross. It will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will come with two engine options – a 101bhp, 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with mild hybrid tech and the Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson cycle petrol with a strong hybrid tech. Gearbox option will include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and an e-CVT (Strong Hybrid Only). The mild hybrid unit will also get an AWD (all-wheel-drive) option.

Japanese automaker, Toyota has recently showcased the Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV in India. Customers can book the SUV online or at Toyota dealership by paying an initial token amount of Rs 20,000. Production of the new HyRyder will begin in August 2022. It will come in 4 trims – E, S, G and V – and two powertrain options – NeoDrive and Hybrid.

Developed by Suzuki on Global C-platform, the new Toyota HyRyder will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka. The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5L K15C petrol with mild hybrid and a 1.5L TNGA Atkinson cycle petrol engine with strong hybrid tech. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and an e-CVT (Strong Hybrid Only).

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra has confirmed that the electric version of the XUV300 will make global debut in September 2022. To be called the Mahindra XUV400, the new model will be longer than the ICE model. It is reportedly to measure 4.2 meters in length and will offer more boot space. The new Mahindra XUV400 will be designed on MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture) platform. The new Mahindra XUV400 is expected to come with 350V and 380V battery options. While the former will be positioned against the Nexon EV, the later will challenge the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV.

Tata Altroz EV

Tata Motors had showcased the Altroz EV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The production version of the hatchback is expected to be launched before the end of this financial year. The company has started testing the new model. The production ready model will miss out on the tailpape and will come with different bumpers, a closed-off grille, new alloy wheels with blue highlights and revised tailgate. The Blue highlights will continue inside the cabin as well. It is likely to come with the brand’s updated Ziptron technology that is offered on the Tata Nexon EV. Its battery size and power figures could be different from its electric subcompact sibling.

New-Gen Maruti Alto

Maruti Suzuki is currently testing the next-gen Alto hatchback, which is expected to be launched during festive season. If reports are to be believed, MSIL will also launch the new Alto K10 hatchback in the country. The spy images reveal that the new model will grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin. Under the hood, the new 2022 Maruti Alto is likely to feature a new K10C Dualjet 1.0L petrol engine with idle start/stop system. The motor makes a top power of 67bhp and 89Nm of torque. The existing 796cc petrol engine, which is good for 47bhp and 69Nm, will also be on offer. The carmaker might also introduce a CNG variant.
