The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq is longer, more spacious and feature loaded; it comes with multiple engine options including a new plug-in-hybrid powertrain
After a long teaser campaign, Skoda has finally revealed the much-awaited new-gen 2024 Kodiaq SUV. The new SUV comes with an evolutionary exterior design along with a heavily revamped interior along with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq length has been increased by 61mm to 4758mm, while the wheelbase remains the same at 2971mm. The width has decreased by 18mm to 1864mm, while height is reduced by 17mm to 1659mm. The new SUV is available with a wide range of alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 20 inches, and nine colors – including a new shade called Bronx Gold Metallic.
The top-spec Sportline trim multiple body parts including dark D-pillars, roof rails, window frames, side mirror caps, front grille surround, rear diffusers and logos are finished in black. This variant comes with exclusive 19-inch wheels with a glossy anthracite finish or an optional 20-inch set with aero covers. The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq features an evolutionary design, featuring a rear light bar connecting the tail-lights and second-gen matrix LED tech for the headlight.
Inside the cabin, the SUV comes with significant changes. The gear selector is now placed on the steering column to create more space between the front seats. There are smart dials on the center console (3 rotary knobs – 1.25-inch displays), which reduces the numbers of switchgear.
The center display can be modified to show four different functions – infotainment system volume, fan speed, air direction, and smart air conditioning. The side displays allow the front occupants to adjust the interior temperature, seat heating, and seat ventilation. The SUV gets a standard 10-inch infotainment system or an optional 13-inch setup. The driver has a 10-inch digital instrument cluster along with an optional next-generation head-up display.
The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq 5-seater has a boot space of 910-litres, which is 75-litre smore than before. The boot space can be further extended to 2,105-litres by folding the rear seats, which is again 40-litres more than the first-gen Kodiaq. The 7-seater model has 340-litres luggage carrying capacity, which is also 70-litres more than before. The boot can be increased to 845-litres by folding the third row; an increase of 80-litres. The maximum cargo capacity of the three-row model has been increased by 30-litres to 2,035-litres.
In terms of features, the SUV gets four USB-C ports with 45W powert, USB-C with 15W built into the rearview mirror, nine speakers, and inductive charging with a cooling function for two smartphones. It has massaging front seats.
The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq will be offered with multiple combustion engines including a 1.5L TSI gasoline unit with a mild hybrid technology. The engine produces 148bhp and has an evolution of the VW Group’s active cylinder technology to shut off cylinders when the extra power is not needed. It also has a bigger 201bhp, 2.0 TSI engine and comes with all-wheel drive layout. The diesel version gets a 2.0 TDI that offers two states of tunes – 148bhp with FWD & 190bhp with AWD. A 7-speed DSG is offered as standard.
