2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift Spotted Testing For 1st Time

Hyundai had launched the 3rd generation i20 hatchback in the Indian market in the end of 2020. It rivals the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and the Tata Altroz. In order to further strengthen i20 nameplate, Hyundai had launched the new i20 N-Line variant in the country in 2021. Interestingly, Hyundai has started testing the i20 facelift that has been spotted for the first time. The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift has been spotted testing in South Korea.

The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift is expected to be launched sometime next year. It is expected that the new i20 will arrive in our market soon after its global debut. The test mule was fully covered in thick cloth, revealing no major changes. The overall rear profile of the hatchback looks identical to the outgoing model. It is expected to receive new tail-lights and revised reflectors.

The front profile is not visible in the spy images. Major changes are likely to be given to the front profile. It is expected to get revised bumper, grille and revised headlamps with LED DRLs. In fact, wheel design looks largely similar to the outgoing model. Expect the new model to receive major changes inside the cabin.

The outgoing model comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a semi-digital instrument console with connected car tech. In terms of safety features, the hatchback comes with 6 airbags, reverse camera & parking sensors and electronic stability control. With mid-life facelift, the new model comes with front ventilated seats and rear disc brakes.

Hyundai has announced to introduce Tucson’s ADAS tech in existing models. The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift’s top-spec model could also receive some of the ADAS features. However, it will significantly increase the prices of the hatchback. The India-spec model won’t be offered with a diesel engine option, as more stringent RDE (Real Driving Emissions) norms will be introduced from April 1, 2023. It will continue to be offered with two engine options – a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol.
