Japanese automaker, Honda has officially announced that the 2023 Honda HR-V will be revealed on April 4. It is basically a differently styled HR-V SUV for the North American markets. After releasing multiple design sketches, Honda has now released a new teaser revealing a portion of the rear and the taillight.
The previous teaser images reveal that the 2023 Honda HR-V will look significantly different and aggressive than the European-spec model. It features a completely re-styled front fascia, featuring a larger octagonal grille with S-shaped mesh design. The SUV gets an aggressive front bumper that has faux inlets at each corner. It sports a larger and squarish headlamp setup that is different from the rounded units in the CR-V & the HR-V.
It retains the rounded profile from the side; however, the rear profile is completely new. It gets a different tailgate and tail-lights. The 2023 Honda HR-V will be longer than the European model, and should offer an additional cargo room. The SUV has a wider tailgate and bigger wraparound tail-lights. It has a chunkier bumper with black cladding for a rugged look.
The company hasn’t reveal the interior of the new HR-V. It is likely to share the cabin features with the new Civic and the European HR-V. Honda said that the new HR-V will be designed to meet the needs of U.S. customers and will be differ from the European & Japanese-spec HR-V.
The 2023 Honda HR-V will be based on the new Civic platform. It will rival the likes of the Toyota Corolla Cross, Hyundai Creta and the Mazda CX-30. The SUV will come with several advanced driver-assistance features such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automated emergency braking, blind spot detection and many more.
It is likely to receive a hybrid powertrain. The SUV could be packed with Honda’s e:HEV system that includes a 1.5L iMMD (Intelligent-Multi Mode Drive) petrol engine and two electric motors. There is a lithium-ion battery and a fixed gear transmission. Its combined power output stands at 109bhp. Adding to it, the SUV could also share the engine options with the new Civic sedan – a 158bhp, 2.0L four-cylinder petrol and a 180bhp, 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol.
