The electric scooters are gaining popularity among Indian buyers. Though, the market penetration isn’t that significant due to their high prices. Most of the electric scooters cost above Rs 1 lakh, therefore the two-wheeler manufacturers including Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company and Ather Energy are planning to bring in more affordable e-scooters. These will be the low-cost variants of their existing electric scooters that will be launched in the next 12-18 months.
The new affordable electric scooters from Bajaj, TVS and Ather are likely to be priced around Rs 70,000 – Rs 80,000. The models will have slightly less powerful powertrain than their premium variants. With an aim to tap the electric two-wheeler market, the companies will also introduce the mass-market products and significantly increase their production capacity in the next couple of years.
