Tata To Launch 3 New EVs By 2024 – Punch, Altroz & Curvv

Tata Motors has recently launched the new Tiago EV, which is the most affordable passenger electric car in the country. It is basically the electrified version of the ICE powered Tiago hatchback. The new model is priced between Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 11.79 lakh, and is offered with two battery packs – 19.2kWh and 24kWh.

Tata Motors is also working on multiple new electric vehicles including the electrified versions of its existing models. The Tigor, Nexon and Tiago EVs are based on the slightly modified ICE platforms. These models feature custom split-battery pack fitted in the fuel tank space and boot floor. On the other hand, the brand’s Gen 2 EVs will be based on the heavily modified versions of the existing platform to create more space for a bigger battery pack.

Tata Altroz EV In India

The company plans to launch 5 new electric vehicles before the end of 2025. In the next 2 years, Tata Motors will launch 3 new electric vehicles out of which, two will be the electrified versions of its existing models. The company will launch the electrified versions of the Altroz and the Punch compact SUV. Moreover, the company will launch the new Curvv concept based electric SUV Coupe in 2024.

The Tata Punch and the Tata Altroz EVs are expected to be launched in 2023. Both models are likely to feature Tata’s Ziptron powertrain tech with battery pack shared with the Nexon EV. The new models should offer a claimed range of over 300kms. On the flip side, the Tata Curvv based EV will come with a 40kWh battery pack with range close to 500kms.

Tata Motors is also developing the Sierra electric vehicle, which will be based on the SIGMA architecture. For people not in the know, Tata had showcased the Sierra EV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company had showcased the all-new electric SUV concept, the Avinya based on the GEN 3 architecture that supports multiple body styles.  Similar to the conventional skateboard architecture, it has long wheelbase to accommodate large battery pack. The Avinya EV’s production version will witness a market launch in 2025.
