Skoda Slavia Sedan (Honda City Rival) Rendered; Debut Soon

It is no secret that Skoda is preparing a new mid-sized sedan, which has already been spotted several times on the Indian roads. It is likely to be called the Skoda Slavia, as the name has already been registered. Skoda has officially announced that the new mid-sized sedan will arrive in our market before the end of this year. It is likely to be launched before the end of this financial year.

A new set of renderings reveal the possible styling of the upcoming Skoda Scala sedan. The render shows an aggressive looking front fascia with Skoda’s signature design elements. It gets a prominent butterfly grille with chrome surround, Skoda logo on the sculpted bonnet, sharp LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and rectangular-shaped LED fog lights.

The side profile has resemblance with the bigger Skoda sedans including the Octavia and the Super. The render shows simpple and elegant looking profile, featuring clean lines, multi-spoke alloy wheels, sloping roofline and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles. The rear too shares styling cues from the Superb, featuring chrome bar on the tailgate, wrap-around LED tail-lamps, tailgate spoiler, and Skoda lettering on the boot. Also visible is a shark-fin antenna.

Recently, Skoda confirmed its next new sedan via an official teaser. Set to replace the ageing Skoda Rapid sedan, the new Slavia will rival the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq and the soon-to-be-launched VW Taigun. It will be significantly bigger than the existing model.

The new Skoda Slavia will have the segment-largest wheelbase of 2,651mm, which should ensure spacious cabin and bigger boot. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The vehicle could also get a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
