11 Brand New SUVs To Be Launched In 2021: Alcazar, XUV700

Here’s the list of upcoming new SUVs that will be launched in the Indian market in the next 8-9 months –

1. Tata HBX

Tata HBX Timero Mini SUV

Tata Motors will launch the production version of the new HBX micro SUV in the second half of 2021. The new model will be based on the new ALFA modular platform, which also underpins the Altroz hatchback. It will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new model will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine producingh 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

Launch – Mid-2021
Expected Price – Rs 4.5 Lakh – Rs 6.5 Lakh

2. New Maruti Vitara Brezza

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the second generation Vitara Brezza in the Q3, 2021. The new model will be based on the modified version of the HEARTECT platform, which will help MSIL engineers to add modern connectivity features and stronger hybrid system. The new model will be positioned against the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Hyundai Venue. The SUV will receive the 1.5L petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system. The SUV will receive a new 6-speed automatic gearbox, connected car tech and factory-fitted sunroof.

3. Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai has recently revealed the Alcazar 7-seater SUV, which is based on the new Creta’s platform. The new model will ride on 150mm longer wheelbase compared to the 5-seater sibling. It will rival the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. It will be powered by a new 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 159PS of power. The diesel version will get the 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Launch – Mid-2021
Expected Price – Rs 13 Lakh – Rs 19 Lakh

4. Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra will launch an all-new 7-seater SUV, called the XUV700 in the third quarter of 2021. The new model will replace the existing XUV500; however, the next-gen XUV500 will return as a 5-seater SUV. The new model will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. The SUV will be benefitted with modern features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), ventilated seats, powered seats with memory functions, etc. It will be offered with two engine options – a 2.2L turbo-diesel and a 2.0L turbo-petrol.

5. Skoda Kushaq

Skoda will introduce the Kushaq mid-sized SUV in the mid-2021, around June-July. The new model will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. The SUV will be based on the VW Group’s heavily localised MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin the brand’s upcoming new sedan. The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol.

Expected Price – Rs 10 Lakh – Rs 15 Lakh

6. Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen will introduce the Taigun 5-seater SUV, which will be based on the MQB AO IN platform. The SUV will sit alongside the Kushaq, and will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The SUV will share the engine and gearbox options with the Kushaq, which includes a 113bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with MT & 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with MT & 7-speed DSG automatic.

7. New Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra will introduce the next generation Scorpio SUV, which has been caught testing several times on the Indian roads. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in the end of 2021 or early 2022. It will be designed and developed on the new ladder-on-frame chassis, which underpins the new Thar. The SUV will receive the new 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines. Transmission options a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

8. MG Astor

MG Motors will introduce the petrol derivative of the ZS SUV in the third quarter of 2021, before Diwali. Rumoured to be called the MG Astor, the new SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The SUV will share styling cues from the global-spec ZS facelift. It could be the segment-first model to feature ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System). The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a 120bhp, 1.5L petrol and a 163bhp, 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol.

Expected Price – Rs 11 Lakh – Rs 17 Lakh

9. New Audi Q3

Audi will introduce the new generation Q3 SUV in the end of 2021. The new model will be inspired by the bigger Q3. It will grow in size, which will make it more spacious. The SUV will receive adaptive dampers, park assist, 12.3-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument console, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. It could receive a 2.0L petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT. The company is also likely to introduce the high-performance RS Q3. The new Audi Q3 will rival the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 and the second-gen Mercedes-Benz GLA.

10. Citroen C21 Compact SUV

Citroen will start rolling out locally developed products in the country from the second half of 2021. The first locally developed Citroen will be a sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed C21, which has been caught testing several times in India. It will be based on the new CMP platform, which will also underpin a new hatchback, a sedan and a new mid-sized SUV. The Citroen C21 will rival the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite. The small SUV will rival the 1.2L petrol engine with manual and automatic gearboxes.

Launch – End of 2021
Expected Price – Rs 6 lakh – Rs 10 lakh

11. New Force Gurkha

Force Motors will introduce the new generation Gurkha off-roader in the mid-2021. The SUV was first unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The off-road SUV has also received a new chassis and bodyshell to comply with existing crash test standards and the upcoming pedestrian safety standards. Under the hood, the new Force Gurkha 2021 will receive the same 2.6L diesel engine that does duty in the old model.

Launch – May-June 2021
Expected Price – Rs 10 lakh – Rs 12 lakh
