Toyota Belta Could Be the Name For Toyota’s Maruti Ciaz-Based Sedan

Toyota Motor Corporation recently filed a trademark application for the Belta name in India. While there is no official word on the same, the Toyota Belta nameplate is likely to be used for the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz based mid-size sedan. Toyota’s Ciaz version could be offered as a replacement to the Yaris that was recently phased out from the market. The sedan is expected to hit showrooms in coming months. Compared to the Maruti Ciaz that costs between Rs 8.42 lakh – Rs 11.33 lakh, the Toyota Belta is likely to be priced slightly premium.

Minor cosmetic changes are expected to be made to the model. While the front grille design, headlamp and fog lamp setups will remain unchanged, it will feature chromed ‘Toyota’ badge on the centre of the grille. The Belta might also be equipped with newly-designed alloy wheels. The interior layout and features will be exactly similar to the Maruti Ciaz.

The top-end trim will be exclusively offered with leather seats upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and SmartPlay infotainment system. Features such as automatic climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat and electronic stability program with hill hold will be available from the mid-level variant onwards.

The list of standard features will include a TFT multi-info display, keyless entry, four power windows, rear AC vents, front and rear centre armrests, tilt steering and steering mounted audio controls. On the safety front, it will offer reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, seat belt reminder for driver and front passengers, dual airbags, Isofix anchors and ABS with EBD. Similar to the Maruti Ciaz, the upcoming Toyota Belta will come with the 104bhp, 1.5L petrol engine. Transmission options will also be the same – i.e. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.

More design and feature details of Toyota’s Maruti Ciaz based sedan are likely to be revealed in coming weeks. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
