Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI Revealed; Gets Bigger Engine and Better Styling

The Japanese two-wheeler maker has finally entered into the 125cc scooter segment with the new Yamaha Fascino 125 FI and Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI. While the former comes in four variants priced between Rs 66,430 – Rs 69,930, the latter has been made available in two variants (Ray ZR FI and Street Rally 125 FI). The prices of the Yamaha Ray ZR 125 are yet to be revealed. We expect it to be around 10-15% costlier than the previous model.

Powering the new Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI is the same 125cc Blue Core engine that does duty in the new Fascino 125. It makes power worth 8.2PS at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm. The power figure has witnessed a jump of 30% and the fuel economy has been increased by 16%. This motor is claimed to deliver a mileage of 58kmpl.

Compared to the old model, the new Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI is around 4kg lighter. Similar to the Fascino 125, it gets Stop & start system, smart motor generator (SMG), side stand engine cut-off switch and Unified brake system. The new Yamaha Street Rally 125 FI looks sportier with elements such as brush guards shield, block-pattern tyres, sporty coloured wheel strips (front and rear) and side panels that designed to look like metallic protectors.

While the Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI comes in a choice of five colour schemes – Dark Matte Blue, Metallic Black, Cyan Blue, Matte Red Metallic and Reddish Yellow Cocktail, the Yamaha Street Rally 125 FI is available in two shades – Sparkle Green and Deep Purplish Blue Metallic.
