Yamaha Nozza Grande automatic scooter is likely to be launched in the second half of this year.
Yamaha, the Japanese automaker is planning to launch two new products in the Indian market this year. The first model to go on sale will be a fully-faired 250cc, Yamaha Fazer 25, followed by an all-new scooter. If reports are to be believed, the new scooter could be Yamaha Nozza Grande. This fashionable city scooter comes with elegant European styling. Globally, this scooter is appreciated for its excellent engine performance, fuel economy and comfort.
In Vietnam, this scooter was specifically launched for female buyers. For the Indian market, Yamaha could position the Nozza Grande as urban scooter for both male and female. To be positioned above Fascino, this scooter has a larger body and a more elegant riding position. The global model is powered by a 125cc single cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC unit that is good for 8.2PS and 9.7Nm of torque. In India, the company could launch this scooter with the existing 113cc unit that also powers the Fascino. This engine produces 7.1PS and 8.1Nm of torque, and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 66kmpl.
This scooter weighs just 99kg and has a fuel tank of 4.4-litre. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 125mm, but Yamaha will make some changes to make it suitable for Indian roads. The Japanese automaker is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of this European styled scooter in India. Media reports suggest that the scooter could be launched towards the end of this year. We will update you as soon as Yamaha announces anything on the same.
Yamaha will launch this scooter as a premium offering and it will be slotted above the Fascino. We expect the Nozza Grande could be tagged around 55,000 – 60,000.
In Vietnam, this scooter is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC engine with fuel injected technology. Paired to a V-belt automatic gearbox, this engine is capable of producing a maximum power output 8.2PS at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm.
In India, the scooter is likely to get the existing 113cc unit that also powers the Yamaha Fascino. This engine churns out 7.1PS of maximum power and 8.1Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an automatic gearbox.
The global model with 125cc engine is claimed to return 54kmpl of fuel efficiency. The India-spec model is likely to source engine from Fascino, which is claimed to have an ARAI certified fuel economy of 66kmpl.
The new Nozza Grande measures 1,820mm in length, 685mm in width and 1145mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,280mm. The Vietnam model comes with a seat height of 790mm and 125mm of ground clearance; however, India-spec likely to have higher ground clearance. This scooter is claimed to have a wet weight of 99kgs.

Like the Fascino, the new Nozza Grande gets a curvy and trendy design language. The scooter features retro-modern styling, featuring diamond-shaped headlamps and Y-shaped design for fog headlights. The scooter gets LCD digital display for instrumentation, fuel tank cap in the front and with the press of a button. The Nozza Grande has a large under seat storage of up to 27-litres, which can accommodate 2 helmets, laptop and others.
