Yamaha MT15 to Rival Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache 200 – Launch in March

Yamaha MT-15 Vs Rivals

The new Yamaha MT-15 naked motorcycle is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in March 2019

Yamaha is all set to launch the exciting MT-15 naked streetfighter in the Indian market. Likely to be priced around Rs 1.20 lakh, the Yamaha MT-15 will challenge the likes of KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200. The new naked motorcycle is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in March 2019, though official launch date is yet to be revealed.

It is based on the Yamaha R15 V3.0, however, the styling is inspired by the bigger MT-09. The naked streetfighter is equipped with sporty MT-style headlamps, sculpted fuel tank with air vents and slimmer tail-lights. The motorcycle features a projector headlamp, fully digital instrument console and split-seats.

The Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder engine with fuel injection technology. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing 19.2bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque. The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 198cc engine that offers 20.71bhp and 18NM, while the Pulsar NS200 has a 199.5cc engine producing 23.17bhp and 18.3Nm. While the MT-15 is slightly less powerful than the competition the lightweight and VVT (Variable Valve Technology) works well to offer maximum torque in both lower and higher rpms.

The MT-15 features telescopic front forks and monoshock unit at the rear. It is equipped with dual-disc brakes along with dual-channel ABS system, while the Pulsar NS200 gets a single-channel ABS system. While the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is retailed at Rs 1.11 lakh, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs 1.12 lakh. The smaller capacity 125 Duke is priced at Rs 1.18 lakh.
