The new Yamaha MT-15 will be launched in India on March 15, 2019.

Japanese two-wheeler maker, Yamaha is all set to launch the exciting new MT-15 naked streetfighter in the Indian market on the 15th of March 2019. This is essentially the naked version of the R15 V3.0, though the styling is heavily inspired by the bigger MT-series motorcycles. The company has released a new teaser video for the MT-15, which reveals the styling of the India-spec motorcycle.

The Yamaha MT-15 has already been spotted fully uncovered in India, which reveals that it will be slightly different from the international-spec model. With new advertisement, Yamaha is asking Indian buyers if they are ready to join the dark side of Japan. The TVC also shows the MT-15 in the same league of the fearsome Samurais of Japan. The teaser reveals that the new bike’s design inspiration comes with the Samurais.

In terms of styling, the Yamaha MT-15 gets a unique front headlight enclosure. Instead of the USD front forks and aluminium swingarm, the India-spec model will get the conventional telescopic front forks and box-type swingarm. This will help the automaker to price this model competitively in the market. Unlike R15 V3.0 that has sporty riding posture, the Yamaha MT-15 will offer a more relaxed riding position for daily commuting. Foot pegs and handlebar are re-positioned for upright position. The Yamaha MT-15 will share most of the mechanical bits like engine, suspension and exhaust setup with the fully-faired sibling. It will be powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that is capable of producing 19.2bhp of power and a peak torque of 15Nm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. Dual channel ABS system along with twin-disc brakes will come as standard.
