2019 Yamaha MT 15 India

The upcoming Yamaha MT-15 naked motorcycle will be launched at an event at the Buddh International Circuit.

Japanese two-wheeler automaker, Yamaha will launch the highly anticipated MT-15 Naked Streetfighter in the Indian two-wheeler market on March 15, 2019. A latest media report claims that the motorcycle will be launched at an event at the Buddh International Circuit. However, Yamaha is yet to make an official announcement on the launch date. Dealers have also started taking pre-orders for the upcoming naked street bike. Interested buyers can book the new motorcycle at select dealerships for Rs 5,000, while deliveries are likely to commence by March 2019.

The Yamaha MT-15 is the naked version of the popular fully-faired YZF R15 V3.0. The motorcycle design is inspired from the bigger MT-series bikes. The new 150cc entry-level sports bike will directly challenge the KTM Duke 125. The motorcycle comes with aggressive design, featuring sporty headlamp section, sculpted fuel tank and a high-set tail-section. The bike gets a single-piece handlebar and a single-seat unit.

The Yamaha MT-15 derives power from the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that powers the fully-faired R15 V3.0. Featuring variable valve actuation (VVA), this 155cc engine produces 19bhp of maximum power and 15Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheel via a 6-speed manual gearbox along with slip-assist clutch.

Yamaha India has also made changes to the motorcycle to meet the Indian market needs. It is slightly longer than the international-spec model. Instead of the upside down front forks, the India-spec model will be equipped with the conventional telescopic front forks. Adding to it, the motorcycle will receive box-type swingarm instead of the aluminium unit. The motorcycle will also receive dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
