Yamaha has rolled out the disc brake variant of the its popular scooter Cygnus Alpha in the country. To be made available across all Yamaha dealerships from mid-June 2016, the Yamaha Alpha disc brake variant is priced at Rs 52,556 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The disc brake variant of the Alpha has been made available in two new colours – Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black.

Besides the disc brake, there are no mechanical or cosmetic changes made to the Yamaha Alpha. It continues to drive its power from the same 113cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine. Mated to a V-Belt CVT automatic transmission, this engine churns out a maximum power output of 7bhp at 7500rpm and a peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5000rpm. The scooter comes with a 21-litre under seat storage, and measures 1795mm in length, 675mm in width and 1124mm in height. It offers the seat height of 775mm and 128mm of ground clearance.

Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Yamaha is looking at reaching a 10% market share by the end of this year and the introduction of this latest variant of the Cygnus Alpha scooter is expected to further propel its growth in the segment. This latest offering with disc brake is aimed at families who want that additional safety feature.”
Coming to Yamaha’s Blue Core Technology, implemented on various models of the company including the Yamaha Alpha, it helps increase combustion & cooling efficiency of the engine while reducing power loss.
