The Swedish luxury carmaker, Volvo has released a teaser video of its much-awaited compact crossover – the XC40. This new video highlights the clutter free cabin design and smart storage compartments of the vehicle. Globally, the compact SUV drivers deal with the lack of functional storage space inside the cabin. And they often end up putting their stuff in an unorganised manner. Volvo Cars is now claimed to have found a solution of this problem in its upcoming XC40 SUV.
Volvo’s customer research team conducted a study to understand how urban dwellers use their car on a daily basis and how they store their belongings. The team also gathered feedback for how customers would like the interior of their cars improved. The company’s new compact crossover – XC40 will address all these issues with its clutter-free interior ambiance and functional storage spaces. Speaking about the new XC40 cabin design, Louiza Atcheba, Model Brand Manager for the 40 series at Volvo Cars, said, “As we spoke to people about how and where they store the things they carry with them daily, it was quite clear that most of the today’s cars are falling short in this area. Phones slide around in the mid-console, takeaway bags are at constant risk of falling over and people fumble behind the wheel as they try to get service cards out of their wallets. We set out to solve these and many other issues we encountered.”
“A lot we have done with the XC40 is based on extensive consumer insight. With the XC40, we declare the end of clutter, making sure that everything is within arm’s reach but also out of sight. With an aim to create functional storage space in the doors of the new XC40, the designers have replaced the doors integrated speakers with world-first air-ventilated dashboard-mounted sub woofer. The compact crossover’s door offers enough space for accommodating a tablet, a laptop and a couple of water bottles. The foldaway hook enables to lock your shopping bags. The storage space under the front seats is good enough to keep small things. The car also has slots for cards that can be inserted into the dashboard. There is a removable bin for trashing things quickly. The boot of the SUV has a smart floor system that can be folded to create more space.
Volvo’s all-new compact SUV – XC40 could make its way to the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It might have its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. With BMWX1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA in its sight, the new Volvo SUV is estimated to be priced between 35 lakh – Rs 42 lakh.
