VW Taigun, New Vento To Come With Petrol Engine Only

Volkswagen will launch two new cars – the Taigun and the next-gen Vento sedan in the country in 2021. The company is also planning to launch the revised Tiguan 5-seater SUV. According to the media report, both these cars will be equipped with petrol engine only fitted with a TSI petrol engine.

The report further claims that Volkswagen has no plans to launch the diesel cars in the country. Speaking to ET-Auto, Steffen Knapp, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We have already cut back and right now we have no diesel options in our existing models Polo and Vento and the newly launched T-Roc and Tiguan Allspace SUVs.”

Both these products will be gasoline only kitted with a TSI petrol engine,” he further added. Apart from the diesel exit, Volkswagen also plans to introduce new SUVs and to achieve high localisation. The company is aiming to increase localisation levels from 81% now to over 95%.

The Volkswagen Taigun and the next-gen Vento sedan will be based on the locally-developed MQB AO IN platform. The all-new mid-sized sedan will replace the Vento sedan. On the next-gen Vento, the new sedan will get the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine.
