Volvo XC40 In High Demand; Two New Variants Launched

The Volvo XC40 Momentum and Inscription are priced at Rs 39.9 lakh and Rs 43.9 lakh respectively.

Volvo Car India has announced that the first lot of its newly-launched XC40 compact luxury SUV has been sold out in the country. The first batch consists of 200 units. Official bookings for the SUV were commenced in the last week of May and the launch happened on 4th July, 2018. The Volvo XC40 is the smallest and the most affordable model from the Swedish carmaker in India.

Initially, the SUV was made available in a single R-Design variant. Considering the high demand of the XC40, Volvo has added two new variants to the lineup – Momentum and Inscription – priced at Rs 39.9 lakh and Rs 43.9 lakh respectively. Commenting on the occasion, Charles Frump – Managing Director, Volvo Car India said, “We are absolutely delighted to have received such a positive response for the newly launched XC40. It’s a great beginning for us and we expect it to contribute considerably in achieving 10% segment share by 2020.”

The range-topping Inscription trim comes loaded with all the comfort and safety features offered on the model lineup. The list includes a 750-watt, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Volvo’s 9.0-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless mobile phone charging, heated front and rear seats, electrically-foldable rear-seat headrests, driftwood inlays for the interior and a crystal gear knob. On the exterior, the Volvo XC40 Inscription variant has a different design and finish for the grille, six-spoke, diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, a charging point in the boot and subtle chrome elements. The entry-level Momentum trim gets an infotainment system that misses out on the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cruise control comes as standard on the base variant. The Volvo XC40 carline is available in a single 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel (D4) engine that’s good for 190bhp and 400Nm of torque. Transmitting power to all four wheels is an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
