The new Volvo XC40 SUV has scored the top safety rating in the latest European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) crash test. With this score, the Volvo XC40 becomes one of the top five cars for the safety aspects tested by Euro NCAP in the last three years. The model which was put through the test was the D4 AWD Momentum variant of the SUV.
The XC40 has achieved 97 per cent for adult occupant protection and 87 per cent for child occupant protection. The vulnerable road users and safety assist scores stood at 71 per cent and 76 per cent respectively. Check Out – 2018 Volvo XC40 Exterior & Interior Pictures

In the frontal offset test, the SUV’s passenger compartment remained stable. It provides good protection of all critical body areas including lower leg of the occupants. While the protection of the chest of the rear passenger rated as marginal, the protection of all other critical body regions was rated as good. Read – Volvo XC40 Wins “Car of the Year 2018”
The tested model was equipped with safety features such as airbags, Autonomous emergency braking (including AEB pedestrian, AEB cyclist, AEB city and AEB inter-urban), lane assist system, speed assistance and safety assist.
Commenting on the Euro NCAP result, Malin Ekholm, head of Volvo Cars Safety Centre said, “The new XC40 is one of the safest cars on the market.
