Jetta VS7 China

Volkswagen could introduce its cheap car company – the Jetta of China in other global markets.

Volkswagen Jetta is the brand’s one of the most successful models in the world. For people not in the know, Volkswagen also introduced the low-cost brand with Jetta name for the Chinese market. Launched at the end of last year, the Jetta received good response from buyers and is constantly growing in the highly competitive environment. A new media report claims that Volkswagen is considering introducing the sub-brand to other markets as well.

Talking to Automotive News Europe, Herald Mueller, president of Jetta company, said that the company has acquired 1 percent market share among new cars sold in China. He believes that the demand for new cars has increased post coronavirus pandemic as customers are now looking for cheap alternatives to public transportation. He further said, “Of course, the successful start has created interest in other markets in the Volkswagen world.”

Jetta VA3 China

Similar to the Nissan’s low-cost brand Datsun, Jetta is Volkswagen’s cheap brand that offers affordable models in the Chinese market. The company is currently selling 3 cars – the VA3 sedan and the VS5 and VS7 crossovers in the Chinese market. The VA3 is basically the previous generation Jetta sedan, which has been thoroughly updated to offer a completely different look. Similarly, the VS5 and VS7 are based on the Seat Ateca and Taracco models, respectively.

Volkswagen global is yet to make an official statement on the launch of the Jetta brand in other global markets. It is expected that the new low-cost Jetta company could be introduced in countries like Russia and other Asian markets including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.

Jetta VS5

Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun failed to generate volumes for the Japanese automaker and is set to be discontinued again. The Jetta won’t be introduced in the European and the United States. Volkswagen is already selling Skoda cars as simple and affordable products in such markets. In India, the affordable brand is not likely to be launched. Skoda is already leading the Volkswagen Group’s India Plan 2.0, and several new cars are set to be introduced in the next couple of years.
