We informed you earlier that Volkswagen has started working on the next generation VW Polo hatchback, which is likely to make its global debut this year. The same platform will be used to develop a compact SUV, a pick-up truck and a sedan. While the compact SUV has already been previewed as T-Cross Breeze concept, the sedan version could be the next generation VW Vento. The new Volkswagen Vento 2018 (Voyage or Polo Sedan) has been spotted testing for the first time on the Brazilian market.
The next generation Volkswagen Vento will be based on the new VW Group’s MQB A0 platform (Modular Transverse Matrix). The same platform will be used to develop next Polo and T-Cross Breeze compact SUV. If reports are to be believed, the new sedan will be offered with three engines – a 1.4-litre MPI petrol, a 1.2-litre TSI petrol and a 1.5-litre TDI diesel. Volkswagen Vento 2018 Design
The spotted model shares most of its design elements from the next Polo, which has already been spied testing several times on European streets. The bumper, headlamps, grille, bonnet, doors and windshield seems identical to the next Polo hatch. The model will be based on the smaller VW MQB-A0 platform. The new model will have wider base and a longer wheelbase than the current model, which is based on PQ-24 platform. European media reports that the new model will have a wheelbase of 2,560mm, which is about 10cm more than the current car.
Going by the spyshots, it is visible that the sedan gets new LED wraparound taillamps, newly designed C-pillar (Thicker than the current model), round shaped doors and larger boot space. There are no interior images of the sedan available, but we expect the new model to get feature rich and premium cabin. It is likely to get a touchscreen infotainment system, multi-functional steering wheel, leather seats, automatic climate control, etc.
