Volkswagen India is ready to foray into the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Taigun that’s likely to arrive in coming weeks. Ahead of its official launch, pre-bookings of the vehicle have been commenced across the nation. Buyers have two turbocharged petrol engines and five colours to choose from. The exterior colour palette includes Curcuma Yellow, Wild Cherry Red, Candy White, Reflex Silver and Carbon Steel Grey.
The Volkswagen Taigun SUV model lineup will be available with 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engines making 113bhp with 175Nm and 148bhp with 250Nm. The former is claimed to offer the best-in-segment power and torque. The same engine setup does duty in the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission will be exclusively offered with the 1.0L and 1.5L variants.

Some of its design elements include a 3D chrome step grille, LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, signature trapezoidal chrome wing, muscular elevated bonnet and electric sunroof. The new VW SUV is said to be the first vehicle in its segment to offer Infinity LED taillamps. The Taigun has dual-tone interior with soul leather upholstery with wild cherry red stitching, sporty red ambient lighting, ventilated seats, a flat-mode multi function leather steering wheel, rear seating with 60:40 split, 6-speakers premium sound system, voice command recognition. For connectivity purpose, the Volkswagen Taigun has a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless App connect with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It offers the segment’s largest 8.0-inch digital cockpit. The SUV has multiple storage space along with the 385-litres of boot space.
