Volkswagen T-Cross SUV To Debut On October 25, 2018 – Report

Volkswagen T-Cross is the company’s smallest SUV that will rival Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.

Volkswagen T-Cross compact SUV will make its world debut on 25th October, claims a report. The SUV will also make its way to the Indian market, and the India-spec model will make its first public appearance at 2018 the Sao Paulo Auto Show in November. Interestingly, the Volkswagen T-Cross is the company’s smallest SUV that will be put up against the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur.

VW’s new compact SUV will first go on sale in the South America and China, followed by its India launch in 2020. In our market, it will be sold with a Skoda’s badge with design inspired by the Skoda Vision X concept that broke cover at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2018.

The European-spec VW T-Cross sits on Volkswagen’s MQB A0 platform and offers a wheelbase of 2,560mm. Its length, width and height stand at 4,133mm, 1,798mm and 1563mm respectively. For the emerging markets, on the other hand, the carmaker uses a slightly tweaked MQB A0 architecture with a longer wheelbase of 2,651mm. Compared to its arch rival – Hyundai Creta, the length (by 71mm) and height (by 217mm)) of the Volkswagen T-Cross will be shorter. Though, the latter has 61mm longer wheelbase. The German carmaker has confirmed that its new compact SUV will offer a boot space of 373-litres that can be expanded up to 420-litres by folding the second row seat and 1281-lites by sliding 60/40 rear bench seat. Read: Volkswagen T-Cross – 5 Things To Know

While the Europe-spec Volkswagen T-Cross comes with a 95bhp/115bhp, 1.0L TSI petrol and a 150bhp, 1.5L TSI petrol engine options, the India-spec model is likely to receive the smaller capacity 1.0L gasoline motor. The SUV might come with both manual and automatic transmissions.
